Get Started

At Waypoint Psychological Services, we meet you where you are—and help you move forward, one meaningful step at a time.

At Waypoint Psychological Services, we understand the profound impact that domestic violence can have on your sense of safety, identity, and trust. Healing from abuse requires more than time—it takes compassionate, trauma-informed care that honors your lived experience and empowers your recovery.

Our work together begins by gently exploring how the effects of abuse may be showing up in your daily life—through patterns of fear, self-blame, emotional numbness, or difficulty setting boundaries. We’ll work collaboratively to help you regain a sense of control, rebuild self-worth, and develop tools to navigate relationships and emotions with clarity and strength.

As a teaching practice, our team blends the deep expertise of licensed clinicians with the energy and insight of provisionally licensed therapists under close supervision—ensuring thoughtful, high-quality care grounded in collaboration and trust.

Whether you’re seeking to process your experience, reclaim your autonomy, or simply feel more grounded and resilient, we’re here to support you with care that meets you where you are—and helps you move forward on your own terms.

Catherine Tanis's Reflection on Partner Violence

Intimate Partner Abuse includes a range of behaviors that can or cannot include a physically violent relationship. The abuse of power and control over an intimate partner usually has an unseen presence in the start of a new relationship. The onset may seem like the perfect relationship, with the unknowing partner receiving the attention, generosity and understanding that they have only dreamed of in earlier relationships. While everyone in a new dating relationship displays their best selves, the abusive partner recognizes the caring and compassionate qualities of their intended victims early on and increasingly works to capitalize on this in what becomes a very one-sided relationship. I have accumulated 2 decades of experience working in this field. I can help you navigate away from self-blame, confusion, fear, and embarrassment to a realistic understanding of the range of abusive behaviors whether verbal, financial, emotional, and physical. I will encourage you, support you and provide you with added resources to help you on a journey toward healing.

Catherine Tanis specializes in trauma, mind-body wellness, and family systems therapy.
